Grilled Porterhouse Steak

Maybe you're cooking more at home these days, or starting to see some warmer weather and it's time to bust out the grill! This is a higher fat steak but boy is it delicious. Make sure to balance it out with some grilled veggies, a light salad or your favorite side dish. (plenty of those here on the blog!)

Macronutrient Balance: 34g Protein / 33g Fat / 0g Carbohydrates - this makes 3 (6oz) servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 Porterhouse Steak approx. 1.5 lbs with bone in (about 1 lb with bone removed)

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp soy sauce

  • 2 tsp crushed black peppercorn

  • pinch of sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Marinate steak in olive oil, soy sauce and black pepper for a minimum of 30 minutes, and up to a few hours.

  2. Once ready to cook, bring steak to room temperature - at least 30 minutes sitting out. If you cook the steak cold/before it reaches room temp, it will cook unevenly from the outside to the center.

  3. Heat grill to 500 degrees F, place the steak on, and pull the grill cover down.

  4. Flip steak over after 5 minutes and cook for an additional 5 minutes. This cooking time will cook the Porterhouse to medium temperature (pink on the inside).

  5. Pull steak from grill and cover with aluminum foil. Let rest for 6-8 minutes before serving or cutting into the steak (the internal temperature is coming down and it is still "cooking" as it rests - which will help it retain its juiciness!) Enjoy!
